The sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch who is living out his last hours at the local hospital. Their troubles grave, and yet somehow hilarious, are highlighted by their priggish cousin and an awkward lawyer who finds himself falling for one of the sisters. Ultimately, it's a story of how the characters escape the past to seize the future. The telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain falls. The film version was nominated for an academy award in 1986. "Crimes of The Heart" contains some adult themes.
