Attention, Stevi River Park users

All Stevensville River Park users should be interested in a tour of the park this Saturday, December 10 at 3 p.m. Fish, Wildlife and Parks will be conducting the tour. The purpose is to explain on the ground, the proposed land swap between the Town of Stevensville and the Capp Family, to facilitate a fishing access site. An open discussion will follow in the Town Council Chambers at 4:30 p.m.
This is a serious issue for members of the Stevensville community as the proposal is asking us to trade 8.5 acres of the park for 3.6 acres of Capp property along the river. There is an additional 1.26 acres included, which is adjacent to the Eastside Highway, across from the Ranger Station.
I know that many of our citizens have already attended a meeting on this issue before the Park Board. However, this will be an opportunity to question Fish, Wildlife and Parks about the details of the proposal which includes the benefits and negative impacts to the community at large. Our knowledgeable input to the Park Board and the Town Council will influence the decision of whether or not we lose 8.5 acres of valuable public land.
I hope you will attend.
