Teams from 21 schools took part in the MCPS Invitational on Saturday at Big Sky High School. Flathead High School won the boys team scoring with 78.5 points. Corvallis finished seventh with 43 points. Stevensville was 16th with 10 points. Florence, Hamilton, Darby and Victor were 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st. Sentinel ran away with the girls’ title with 118 points. Corvallis was sixth with 43 points and Hamilton finished 7th with 36 points. Stevensville finished 18th and Florence was 21st.
Corvallis’ 1600 relay team finished second behind Columbia Falls who had a time of 3:32.44. Corvallis’ time was 3:34.09. Braxton Roth was second in the triple jump with an effort of 43-04, 18 inches less than first place. Skylar Jessop was third in the discus with a throw of 148-02. McKenzie Holt of Thompson Falls won with 163-04. Luke Channer finished fifth in the shot put with a put of 43-11. Jory Breen of Sentinel won with 46 feet. Ronald Venema finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:35.91. Jake Perrin of Flathead set a new meet record of 4:16.54. Josh Jessop finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:00.36. Peter Kirgis of Hellgate won in 1:57.98. Bruce Tomas finished fifth in the 400 with 51.94. Jacob Grinwis of Belgrade won with 50.91.
Stevensville’s Hunter Casey finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 51.68. He was also fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:01.85. Florence’s Marcus Zeiler was 6th in the 800 with a time of 2:03.84. Caden Venters finished fourth in the javelin Hamilton’s Cameron Meikle was third in the 1600 with a time of 4:34.28. Darby’s Ky McCollaum was fifth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.75. Aaron Robinson of Glacier won with 39.94.
Brookelyn Palin of Corvallis won the discus with a throw of 115 feet. Calla Haldorson was second with 114-06. Penny Jessop of Corvallis finished third in the 100-meter race with a time of 13.11. Hannah Coburn of Big Sky broke the meet record with a time of 12.58. Jessop was fourth in the 200 with a time of 26.82. Hannah Kearns of Big Sky won with 26.58. Heidi Nisly finished fifth in the 800. Annie Hill of Glacier broke the meet record with a time of 2:13.04. Tayler Wright was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 33-11. Allyson Gimble of Columbia Falls won with 37-07.
Baylie Duce of Hamilton finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.82. Claire Fickler of Drummond won with 1:03 flat. Baylie Duce also earned points in the triple jump with a fifth place finish with 34-04. Hannah Kearns of Big Sky won with 35-07.25. Taylor Bess finished second in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9-06. Ashley Caffrey of Columbia Falls won at 10 feet. Bess was sixth in the long jump with 16-00.25. Reilly Rostad was fourth in that event with an effort of 16-01.50.
Stevensville’s Megan Pendergast was fifth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.48. Hannah Coburtn of Big Sky won with 46.75. Jacie Schmalz was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:43.1. Ella DeGranpre of Hellgate won with 11:24.81.
