Antoine “Tony” Incashola, Director of the Salish-Pend d’Oreille Cultural Committee, spoke recently in Stevensville about the connection, both past and present, of the Salish-Pend d’Oreille to their ancestral homeland in the Bitterroot Valley. Referring to the local “trail of tears” when the last of the Salish Tribe near Stevensville were “relocated” to the Flathead Indian Reservation, Incoshola said, “We were moved out of here physically, but not spiritually.
