The weather prevented Corvallis from competing in Anaconda on Saturday but it didn’t slow the Blue Devils down at all. They shifted gears from Anaconda’s windy and cold track to the track at the Seeley-Swan Invitational in Missoula. The boys team won by 32 points behind the wins of Jimmy Henderson in the discus, Stuart Landis in the triple jump and Tyler Berner in the pole vault.

The Corvallis girls also won the team scoring. Lakyn Connors stepped out of her comfort zone a bit and ran the 400 and came away with a win for the Blue Devils. She also won the 100 hurdles and the triple jump. Ayden Eickhoff doubled in the 800 and 1,600. Isabella Pape won the 3,200, Carlie Jessop won the discus and Aspen Evans continued her dominance in the pole vault.

The Porch sisters of Florence, Hannah and Tess, continued to put up outstanding marks. Tess had a personal best in the 100 and won the 200 as well. She was third in the 400 and tied for sixth in the high jump. Hannah, the freshmen, won the long jump with a personal best of 16’1/2”. She was second in the 200 and third in the triple jump.

A beardless Doug Raymer of Darby won the 800 and the 1,600 by wide margins. Kyle Ball of Victor was the final winner from the valley. He topped the bar at 6 feet in the high jump.

Next week will be the district meets for Class B and C while the Class A schools will be in Polson. Corvallis will be back at full strength with several members of the track team school after having to stay home because of the whooping cough crisis in the school.
